Medical Care

Our Care Home

The College's registered Care Home, Cullum Welch court, was opened on 4 October 2005 by Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Gloucester GCVO. It has 60 bedrooms, each with en suite facilities, and is equipped to the highest modern standards. The Home was recently judged as providing outstanding care and awarded a three star rating by the Care Quality Commission, which is the highest available grade awarded to Care Homes. The Home is managed by the College Matron and incorporates an outpatient medical centre which is staffed by the College Medical Officer and the rest of the medical team.
Cullum Welch Court has a number of large lounges and separate dining areas with magnificent views overlooking the College grounds. All meals are included and a choice of menus is available, we also serve morning coffee and afternoon tea. Friends and relatives are welcome to join residents for meals for a nominal charge.
Assisted bathrooms are available for those that prefer a bath and for those who require assistance with bathing. It also incorporates activity rooms and a smoking room.
We have our own in-house laundry facilities; all that we ask is that clothes are clearly marked prior to admission.

Entry into the Care Home

There are three routes to entry into the Care Home:

Respite Care Provision

We are able to offer recuperative care, following an illness or a stay in hospital, perhaps resulting from surgery (including knee or hip replacements). Cullum Welch Court has a well equipped Physiotherapy Department with a team of four physiotherapists and a physiotherapy assistant. The department is located in the Medical Centre, adjacent to the Home and it is accessed via an internal connecting door. Staff will assess and discuss a plan of care with each resident to ensure that expectations and needs are met throughout their stay.
